CURRENT SERMON SERIES OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2009 “GENERATIONS” Some of us are older, some of us are younger, and some of us are right in the middle. We are very different, but in Christ God has called us to be one body, united as his church. How does our faith in God affect our cross-generational relationships, and what teachings has he given to guide us at the various stages of our lives? This series takes us into teachings about how we are to honor the aged and welcome children, into consideration of the joy of sharing the songs of different generations, into reflection on how one generation can bless the next through faithfulness or burden it through sin, and into instruction on how we ought to live at various stages of life and pass our faith on to our children. The goal of this series is to help us love one another, with recognition of the differences between us because of our ages and with acceptance of those differences not as barriers, but as tools God offers us for ministry to each other. November 1 - Lesson 5 - “How Shall the Young Secure Their Hearts?” (Psalm 119:9-16, Psalm 71) November 8 - Lesson 6 - “The Sins of the Past” (Ezra 9, Psalm 25:1-11) November 15 - Lesson 7 - “Teachings for Young and Old” (selected passages) November 22 - Lesson 8 - “Share the Story” - Deuteronomy 6 November 29 - to be determined NEW SERIES IN DECEMBER: “The Mighty Arm of God” (This schedule is subject to change.)
